Where Is It Safe in The World?
Where is it safe in the world?
It’s hard to imagine that a place that seems like a paradise can
be turned into a war zone by some terrible natural global disasters from cyclones, tornados, floods, fire, earthquakes, sink holes, even volcanos are erupting. It’s nuts.
Extreme weather is so frightening. The power of a natural phoenomenon is so unpredictable and unsettling.
So many lives taken and others damaged for life.
It is so sad and upsetting to see people weeping over their loss of their children. As Meredith Viera said on The Today Show about the earthquake in China, imagine the guilt these parents will have over doing something that seems so natural and safe…sending their children to school. And then they are killed by a devastating earthquake.
We can’t even come close to imagining what it would be like to lose everything and then starting over again. Some of these people didn’t have much to lose in the first place, some of them barely have a roof over their heads. Emotionally drained, so completely lost.
Even people who seemingly have everything…a beautiful home, nice cars, etc. and then to lose everything…and to walk away with the clothes on their backs.
Trying to see the good in this makes us appreciate what we have. Life is so uncertain, we can never be sure of life or take anyone or anything for granted. Will it take losing everything to appreciate everything?
And still be proud and content with yourself?

The Perfect Pair in a Size 5
I am now in the throes of planning the perfect girls night out.
Yes, you guessed it, it is all centered around the much anticipated opening
of the movie that extends the saga of my favorite girlfriends I’ve never met..
Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte. If you have been buried in your closet looking for that favorite pair of shoes, then you may not know about the May 30th release of “Sex and The City/The Movie”. But then again if your buried in your closet looking for your favorite pair of shoes, you are probably totally hip to this news.
Shoes. Now that’s a subject I can dig my heels into. I wear a size 5 and yes it’s hard to find shoes in a size 5. A nightmare is more like it. Imagine my joy and my husband’s horror when I stumbled onto one of the coolest websites in cyberspace, Zappos. I’m so grateful for Zappos and now there is a Zappos outlet just an hour from Nashville. Oh, the damage that will be done….
Guess I better get shopping. So many shoes to try on, so little time. Only 23 days and 19 hours to go.

The Hippy Chick in me
“For every hero in this world, there’s at least one shero.”
Johnetta B. Cole
This is the quote on my flier today from one of my favorite online stores, the Hippy Chix Shop. www.hippychixshop.com
In honor of my Sex and The City/The Movie countdown, I feel I need to turn you on to this site, just in case you’ve not stumbled on it yourself. After all,
what is more fun than wearing some “where did you get that?”, funky, unique top? And there are dresses, too. I love the line “Funky People” I’m definitely one of those.
You are going to be blown away by the selection. The Skinny Minnies/Libertalias (new name for S.M.) are to die for. I have a few Skinny Minnies and they fit great. All kinds of sizes. And while you’re browsing the site, check out the owner, Jeannette’s skinny. My kind of girl.
It’s all at Hippy Chix, it’s all in, baby and you will be, too if you don one of these hot numbers.
25 days, not counting today…see you at the movies.

50 is the new 25
“50 is the new 25” got a big laugh (and a round of applause from me) when the Sex and the City girls visited Oprah for some promo on their new movie.
(Cynthia Nixon/Miranda made this comment for the record)
Wait a minute, I don’t feel my age…I still feel 25. But the great advantage I have is that I know so much more than I did then.
When you’re in your twenties, you think that whatever you decide to do is it.
Everything is so serious, the decisions made seem to be etched in stone.
A time to feel carefree and a time to improvise, but I feel more comfortable in my skin for that kind of activity now. And I’m a lot older than 25….
I remember waking up on my 40th birthday and thinking, you know what, I don’t give a crap, this is me, love me or leave me and I love who I am and I’m ok with that. I liked the feeling of finally settling in, losing the fear, taking chances and not worrying about what anyone thought about my choices and dreams.
I’ve decided for the rest of this year, I’m going to be bold, even bolder in my choices than I usually am. More spontaneous than feels comfortable. Dreaming bigger and better than ever, not taking no from myself as an answer.
And while I’m doing all that, I’m counting down to the opening of “Sex and The City/The Movie”. Those are the kind of girlfriends who would encourage me to go for it.
26 days to go and counting.

27 Days to go and counting
“You can brag, but not blog” was one of Sarah Jessica Parker’s
requests of the Oprah audience who had a sneak peak of the much anticipated “Sex and The City/The Movie”. The entire audience was sworn to secrecy, hand up and everything about the plot and especially about the ending. I wish I would have been there as I am on a countdown until the opening of the movie. Those women have incredible willpower. Imagine the temptation to let just one part of the plot slip and turn a 15 chat session into a full-blown all night long discussion speculating about what is going to happen to our favorite girlfriends.
I can already tell I’ll be seeing this movie multiple times and buying the DVD when it comes out. I’m looking forward to checking out the couture and of course Mr. Big.
So, will Carrie end up with Big after all or will she stroll down 5th Avenue into the sunset?
Only 27 more days to go here at the Panty Club counts it down to the Sex and The City/The Movie.

My girlfriends and Sex and The City
It’s almost here. The Sex and the City movie. I admit that I’ve missed my girlfriends and I’m glad they will be back. I can watch the re-runs on TBS or on HBO, my husband rolls his eyes when I land on the channel, but he’s even caught up in the energy of it all. Come on, admit it, I know you’ve taken the online ‘test’ of which Sex and the City guy are you most likely to date….ha…I vote Mr. Big, but that’s just me.
We are less than 30 days until the release of the film, but I almost don’t want to know anything about the movie, I just want to be surprised about where Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte have been (what is it, 4 years since they’ve been gone?) and where they may go.
I’m counting down the days until the movie is out so I can have the perfect girl’s night out…get all dressed up, only high heels and a few martinis.
There’s nothing like a girl’s night out. I’m in Nashville, but I can pretend I’m in Manhattan. I still love to do that! Although secretly I hope I win one of the walk-the-red-carpet-with-the-Sex-and-the-City-cast contests I’ve entered.
A girl can dream……
